(PAC)

Personal Assistance & Care (PAC) provides hands-on support, supervision, and guidance to help individuals complete daily living activities and safely participate in their home and community.

Services are based on each individual’s needs and may include assistance with personal care, daily routines, mobility, and community engagement.

Why PAC?

PAC services are designed to promote independence, ensure health and safety, and support individuals in living successfully outside of institutional settings. PAC is available through Indiana HCBS waivers, Family Supports Waiver (FSW), and Community Integration & Habilitation (CIH).

What does PAC actually cover?

PAC services support:

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

  • Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)

  • Health, safety, and supervision needs

Specific Services Allowed Under PAC

    • Bathing, grooming, hygiene

    • Dressing

    • Toileting

    • Eating/feeding assistance

    • Mobility (transfers, walking, assistive devices)

    • Meal preparation

    • Household chores

    • Shopping and errands

    • Scheduling and attending appointments

    • Medication reminders (not administration unless allowed separately)

    • Transportation support (not medical transport)

    • Attending community activities

    • Social participation

    • Daily structure and routine support

    • Monitoring for health and safety

    • Preventing risky behaviors

    • Following risk plans

    • Reinforcing Behavior Support Plans (BSP)

    • Reinforcing health and safety routines

    • Supporting independence goals

Where can PAC Be Provided?

PAC is not facility-based. It can be provided:

  • In the individual’s home

  • In a family home

  • In the community
